The porcelain eggs, designed and created by Marla J, are done in the style of Faberge` for your enjoyment.  Each of these eggs is an original.  No design will be duplicated.  Eggs may be similar but every effort is made to keep the design an original, to be cherished by the recipient as a one of a kind collectible, chosen especially for/by them.  It is hoped that they will become a family heirloom that is passed through the generations with pride.  Most of the porcelain eggs have 24 K gold plated feet.  The interiors may have a luster fired finish, a cloth lining made from velvet, silk, lame`, or satin and some interiors are 24K gold plated.

These eggs are handcrafted from porcelain slip, that is poured, cleaned and kiln fired several times.  After the desired color is achieved,  the fun begins...the decorating.  Marla J is often asked, "are those real gems?"  Her response is always the same.  She doesn't know.   Semi-precious stones, Austrian Swarovski crystals, Japanese and Czech glass beads, and gold plated chain are among the materials used on her eggs. She scours estate sales looking for "sparkly" jewelry, which she, then, cuts apart, to be used along with purchased stones , beads, findings and filigree to compliment her eggs.  She does not know, if  while scouring the estate sales,  she happened upon a "real treasure" that will adorn her eggs.

It should be noted here, that if the customer has provided their own jewelry to be cut apart and used , then, of course, they would know if the gems were, indeed, authentic.
Marla J welcomes commissioned orders. This allows the customer to request a certain color family (i.e. a blue egg, green egg, etc.) to be used during the firing of the egg.  However the exact shade of blue, green  will be unknown until after the firings.  Most of the eggs go  through three or four firings.  However, it is not uncommon for an egg to go through six to eight firings.  Eggs are fired until the color satisfies Marla J.  Of course, those eggs with the 24K gold plating require additional firings.  Because each egg is an original,  both in color and design, Marla J does not record the firing specifications, the exact color will most likely not be duplicated.
Customers may, also, designate the color family they would like to see in the design., i.e. the color of stones and the type of trim (i.e. ribbon, cording, chain, rhinestone chain, etc.)  they would like used on their egg.
